Today I want to share with you a new CSI Case that I've solved as a part of the Design Team. 

This is the Major Case #202. It's open til the end of the month and includes a Sketch for inspiration.

Usé los 5 colores propuestos e incluí un poquito de marrón para el título.

Como evidencia usé fondo blanco, diamantes, burbujas de texto, acentos transparentes (hechos a mano con dimensional transparente), sellos, estrellas y "enamel dots" hechos a mano (puntitos de dimensional transparente, pintados con esmalte de uñas). Para el testimonio elegí escribir sobre un edificio que me gusta en una serie de burbujas de texto.

I used all five colors and add a little bit of brown in the title.

As evidence I used: white background, diamonds, speech bubbles, transparent accents (Handmade enamel dots), stamps, stars and Handmade enamel dots.

For the Testimony I journaled about a building in a series of speech bubbles :D

Trabajé sobre un papel de acuarela, por eso se ve cierta textura en su superficie. 

Usé gel medium mate y un stencil de estrellitas muy pequeñitas, y llené el fondo de mini estrellitas transparentes. 

Cuando estuvo seco comencé a aplicar tintas distress con el aplicador en seco, generando contraste y haciendo que se noten las estrellitas (el gel medium repele la tinta entonces muestra el color del papel de abajo).

También usé un sello de diamantes para dar unas manchas desprolijas en el fondo, usando tintas distress activadas con agua sobre el mismo sello :)

I used watercolor paper for the background, that's why it shows a little bit of a texture. I used Gel Medium and a stencil of little stars and filled the background with tiny translucent stars.

When that dried, I started working with distress inks and the little stars started to appear :)
I also used a diamonds stamp with watercolored distress inks.

Luego ubiqué la foto y el título donde los quería. 

Agregué también los globitos de texto, pegados con cinta bifaz gordita (igual que la foto) para dar más dimensión a la página.

I then glued down the photo and the title.

I also added the speech bubbles with my journaling.

Hice muchos "puntos de esmalte" :D (enamel dots) caseros. Algunos los dejé transparentes y otros los pinté en dos tonos de azul (siguiendo los colores del caso).

Los ubiqué por aquí y por allá, sin pensar demasiado :)

También agregué algunos hilitos por ahí :)

I created a lot of enamel dots! I left some of them transparent and the other ones painted in the two shades of blue of this case.

I glued them all around without thinking too much :)

Finally I added some twine.

Para finalizar desgasté todo el borde de la página y manché un poquito con las mismas tintas del fondo. Luego pegué toda la página sobre otro papel texturado, a modo de marco.

To finish the LO I distressed all the sides of the page, add some distress ink, and glue everything on another paper to create a frame.

Usé la paleta completa de colores intentando no agregar otros.
Como evidencias utilicé estrellas, Stickers de letras rectangulares, Estructura de ladrillos, fondo listo, pequeños botones y sellos.

Como testimonio elegí escribir sobre algo que me parece alucinante.

I used all five colors.
As evidence I used stars, rectangle alphas, bricks, solid background, buttons and stamps.

For the testimony I chose to write about something that I find Amazing.

Detalle del título y la foto. Esa cámara se llama Blackbird. Es una cámara de fotos analógica (a rollo), toda de plástico :D Tiene dos lentes, se llama "réflex de lentes gemelos" y uno de esos lentes sirve para mirar a donde apuntamos y el otro es el que realmente expone el negativo. Además es azul y hermosa ♥

Detail of the title and photo. That camera is called Blackbird. It's an analogic camera (it uses film) and it's made of plastic. It has two lenses, it's called "twin lens reflex" and one of those lenses shows us what we are pointing at and the other one is the one that exposes the film. Also, it's BLUE and BEAUTIFUL ♥

Detalle del relato, esto es lo que dice: "Eso es la fotografía. Algo increíble! Poder congelar en imágenes momentos de la vida y poder así volver en el tiempo cada vez que observamos lo que la luz dibujó para nosotros".

Detail of the journaling, this is what it says: "That's photography. Simply amazing! Being able to froze moments of our lifes in images and that way travel back in time each time that we look at what the light has drawn for us." 

Creé el fondo a partir de una lámina negra a la que pinté con un marcador azul dejando un marco en el borde. Realmente no se nota mucho, pero genera una leve veladura azul que matizó el negro y no quedó tan NEGRO :D

Luego trabajé con un stencil de estrellitas y pasta para modelar, y agregué también una mancha texturada de pasta para modelar para que sirva de base al resto de los colores que iba a agregar.

Con la pasta para modelar seca, comencé a jugar con mis acuarelas japonesas Gansai Tambi, de Kuretake, que tienen colores muy vivos y son más opacas que las acuarelas tradicionales de occidente. 

Mezclé amarillos y verdes para lograr el tono verde brillante. Con ese color seco, mezclé un turquesa con algunos azules para lograr ese otro tono turquesa de la paleta.

I created the background from a black page. I painted it with a blue marker, leaving a frame all around the page. It doesn't show very much, but it seams like a glazing that turned out the black a little blue-er (if I can say something like that haha).
Then I used modelling paste and a stencil of little stars. I also created a big textured patch of modelling paste to serve as a base for the other colors.

When that dried, I started to play around with my japanese watercolors: the Gansai Tambi, from Kuretake. These have really beautiful and bright colors, and aren't as transparent as most of the western watercolors.

I mixed yellows and greens to create that bright yellow-green. Then I mixed some turquoise and blue to create the shade of turquoise of the color palette.

Today I want to share a new CSI case, this is N°199, and it's the first one for me as part of the Design Team of CSI :D
This new Design Team will work from now (May) till October this year. Then it reagrups! Haha.
This is a Major Case so it has attached a sketch to inspire the composition of the LO. You can solve this case until the last day of the month.

Y así es como lo resolví!

And this is how I solved it! 

Utilicé la paleta de colores completa intentando no incorporar nuevos colores (aunque si me permito ser flexible en los valores y matices de los colores, variándolos un poquito :D).

Como evidencias usé la flor del Diente de León (en la foto), perlas, metal, notas musicales, círculos y algo transparente.
Para el testimonio elegí escribir en el estilo de Poesía Magnética, usando casilleritos de palabras sueltas y armando así un relato.

As Evidence I used: Dandelion Flower (photo), pearls, metal, music notes, circles and transparent stuff.

For the testimony I wrote as Magnetic Poetry. This is what the journaling says:

Trabajé el fondo con Gel Medium y un stencil de circulitos no muy prolijos, y arriba usé tintas distress en forma acuarelada y también por frotado.

I created the background using gel medium and a stencil of not so sharp circles. On top of that I used distress inks as watercolors and with the blending tool.

También incorporé hilo y algunos brads.

Quedó bastante traqui el LO, había hecho otro pero no me convenció! Supongo que estaba un poco nerviosa porque era la primera página que hacía como parte del Equipo de Diseño :D

I also added thread and some brads. It's quite a simple LO, I did another one before this, but I didn't like it! I think I was a little nervous for being the first case I had to solve as part of the Design Team :)

And this is how I solved it!

Utilicé todos los colores del caso, jugando un poco con la saturación de los colores, apareciendo así distintas variantes del mismo color.

Como Evidencias utilicé: Líneas, una pequeña flor, un borde decorativo (aunque no es tan decorativo, pero si es un borde jaja), pintura e hilo.

Para el Testimonio elegí Contar una Historia de Humor. Me encantó ese disparador para crear una página, así que buscando entre mis fotos a Scrapear encontré esta que de por si es muy graciosa! Así que incorporando un título también gracioso, que también hace referencia a Star Wars, ya quedó casi todo resuelto.

El planito lo utilicé espejado en forma horizontal.

I used all five colors of the case, playing with different shades of the colors.

As Evidence I used: Stripes, A little flower, A decorative border (well, not SO decorative, but a border :D), paint and string.

For the Testimony I choose to Tell A humorous Story. With the photo I chose to use, and later the title (that refers to Star Wars), it seemed like the only way to go was HUMOR :D 

I flipped the sketch horizontally.

Como el planito del caso mostraba dos fotos, pero yo sólo quería usar esta, opté por utilizar el hilo para dar una división y jugar un poco con esa línea que muestra el planito. También agregué un dije de símbolo de paz (jugando un poco con los personajes de la foto) y para sumar algún embellishment. No soy de usar demasiados accesorios, así que simulé ese cluster junto a la foto más que nada con las manchas de color y el trabajo de mix media :)

The sketch shows two pictures, but I only wanted to use this one. I used the string as a division and create the ilussion of to pictures. I think that it also accentuates the action on the top part of the photo. I don't use lots of embellishments, so I only add the little peace symbol. 

Detalle del relato debajo de la foto. Más que nada elegí contar la situación en la que ocurrió esa foto. El relato en si no es gracioso, pero la cuota de humor la aporta la foto y el título.

Detail of the journaling under the photograph. The story alone isn't very funny, it puts the photo in context. 

 Todo el fondo fue creado por mí :D Trabajé sobre un papel de base de un tono gris muy parecido al del caso y fui agregando capas de pasta para modelar con stencils para dar textura. Luego trabaje con Tintas Distress con el aplicador y también diluyéndolas y aplicándolas en forma salpicada.

The entire background was created by me. I worked on a grey paper and started adding modeling paste with stencils to add texture. Then I worked with Distress Inks, with the blending tool and creating splashes.

Hoy quiero compartirles un nuevo Caso CSI, esta vez el #195, que corresponde a la segunda parte de mi solicitud a ser parte del Equipo de Diseño del sito :)

Como en todos los casos CSI (Color, Stories, Inspiration | Color, historias, inspiración) hay ciertas reglas que cumplir, pero como las opciones son TAN amplias nunca me siento limitada. Al contrario, cada caso me anima a probar cosas nuevas.

Today I want to share a new CSI Case, #195. This is the second part of my request for being part of the Design Team of CSI.
Like in every CSI Case, there are certain rules to follow, but there are always so many options so I never feel limited. On the contrary, each case invites me to try new things.

Esto es lo que propone el Caso #195:

This is what Case #195 proposes.

Y esto es lo que tomé para crear:

• Usé la paleta completa de colores, incorporando blanco.
• Como evidencias utilicé: Rayas, Marco Polaroid, Pequeños Brads, Botones, Salpicaduras de tinta y Papel Vegetal.
• Para el testimonio, me inspiré en las palabras Friendship y Childhood (amistad e infancia) para escribir todo mi relato. Cuando iba buscando fotos que pudieran ir con la paleta de colores y que me movilizaran a scrapear, justo di con la que elegí que cuadraba bárbaro con la propuesta para el testimonio.

And this is what I did:

• I used all five colors, adding white.
• As evidence I used Stripes, a Polaroid Frame, Little Brads, Buttons, Ink Splats and Vellum.
• For the Testimony, I was inspired by the words Friendship and Childhood to write my journaling. They also inspired me to choose my photo, the starting point of all my LOs.

Trabajé sobre un papel blanco (que en realidad es un papel de scrap estampado del otro lado, pero la estampa no me gustaba! así que lo udi vuelta y me sirvió fantásticamente para crear desde cero). El papel era de 12 x 12 pulgadas, pero lo achiqué quitandole 1/2 pulgada de un lateral y de arriba, para así poder pegarlo sobre otra página 12 x 12 que tuviera que ver con los colores del Caso. 

Esto de superponer las capas de base, dando una suerte de marco, es algo que aprendí recientemente en el Curso de Mixed Media con Gigly Perez. Siempre lo veía, pero por alguna razón nunca lo aplicaba. Lo hice por primera vez en un LO del curso (inspirándome en el trabajo de Gigly) y creo que se está convirtiendo en una de esas cosas que se hacen siempre :)

Creé todo el fondo con Tintas Distress, utilizándolas como si fuesen acuarelas. Las líneas verticales y horizontales rojas las logré también con tintas distress y un stencil. También usé una de estas tintas para manchar todo el borde del papel blanco, que también desgasté todo antes de pegarlo a la base más grande.

I started on a white background that was originally 12 x 12 in. I took 1/2 an inch from two sides (up and left), so I could later paste the entire page on a 12 x 12 in patterned page to create an interesting frame.
I created the entire background using Distress Inks as watercolours. The stripes were made with a stancil and some more distress ink. All the blue border was also created with distress ink. 

Como casi siempre, creé un mini cluster (agrupamiento de elementos) para compensar el gran cluster que sostiene foto, título y relato. Por lo general, así como esta vez, ese mini cluster lo uso para colocar la fecha de creación del LO.

As I almost always do, I created a mini cluster to balance the big primary cluster where the photo, the title and the journaling are. In general, like this time to, I used that mini cluster to write the date when the LO was created.

Otra cosa que me gusta hacer es superponer capas y agrupar elementos. En esta foto se puede ver el agrupamiento de botoncitos y un mini brad, y las distintas capas: papel rasgado al nivel de la base, la foto pegada con relieve y el marquito pegado sobre la foto.

Another thing that I like to do is overlaying papers and group elements. In this picture you can see the buttons and mini brad cluster, and the different layers of paper, including the photo.

Otra cosa que me gusta hacer es incorporar información extra, por lo general la fecha en que se tomó la foto (o/y el lugar donde fue tomada), en algún borde cercano a la foto. No suelo ubicarlo en sentido horizontal (como normalmente leemos cualquier texto) así pasa desapercibido y acompaña la dirección de algún elemento.

Another thing I usually do is adding extra information, generally the date or place where the photograph was taken, somewhere near the photo. I don't write that extra info horizontally (the way we normally read) so it follows the direction of some element and goes a little more unnoticed.

Fue bastante difícil lograr una foto donde se notara la presencia del papel vegetal, pero si observan esas líneas debajo de la foto pueden notar la sombra que proyecta el borde rasgado de ese papel transparente sobre el fondo.

It was kinda difficult to capture in photos the vellum paper, but if you look closely you can see the shadow that the paper creates on the background.

Espero que esta nueva página les guste y les sirva para animarse a probar algo diferente :D No duden en participar de CSI, es una hermosa plataforma creativa. No hace falta que suban el resultado a la web si todavía no se animan, pero por lo menos participen "desde las sombras" (jajaja) para que esos jugos creativos fluyan.

Today I want to show you a new solved CSI Case: the current Major Case, #193.

For all of you new around here, I present myself: my name is Ariana Iacono, I'm 25 years old and I live in Patagonia Argentina. I'm a Visual Artist and Art Teacher.

Y estos son los elementos del caso que elegí usar:

Usé la paleta completa de colores e incorporé blanco para el fondo (a las paletas de los casos se pueden agregar neutros como blanco, negro, gris y algún tierra).
Como Evidencias utilicé los cuadraditos alternados tipo tablero de ajedrez, hilo, etiquetas y algo transparente (el film tipo negativo al lado de la foto y en la esquina superior derecha)
Para el testimonio elegí contestar una de las preguntas que podés ver AQUÍ. La pregunta que elegí contestar es "¿Quién es tu mejor amigo/amiga, que no sea tu pareja?"

And these are the case elements I used:

For the Scheme I used all five colors and add white on the background.

As Evidence I used Checkers, String, Labels and Something Transparent (Film Strip).
For the Testimony I chose to answer one of THIS questions. The question I chose to answer is "Who's your best friend, but not your spouse?"

Estoy contenta con el resultado y disfruté muchísimo creando este LO. Me encanta incorporar técnicas mixtas y sobre todo acuarelas a mis trabajos.

Estuve unas 4 horas realizando esta página, quizás un poquito más! Como trabajé con Gesso, Acrílico y Acuarelas en Barra, tuve que ir dándole tiempo a cada medio para que secara antes de poder avanzar.

I'm happy with the result and I enjoyed a lot creating this LO. I love using mixed media and mostly watercolors in my work.

This page took me around 4 hours to create. I worked with gesso, acrylic paint and watercolor sticks, so I had to give each medium time to dry before I could continue.

Luego de sacar las fotos finales me di cuenta de que no había escrito la fecha en esta esquina superior donde había planeado hacerlo! Jaja, así que ya la escribí. Imaginen que a la izquierda de ese mini cluster dice "6 de Marzo de 2016". Me gusta que mis páginas tengan la fecha del día en que las creé, aunque no tengan nada que ver con la fecha de la foto.

After I took these photographs I noticed that I hadn't wrote the date where I planned it to be written! Haha. So I added it. Imagine that in the left of that mini cluster in the right upper corner says "March the 6th of 2016". I like that my LO's have the date of the day I created them, more than the date when the picture was taken.

Como este trabajo lo armé pensando en compartirlo en el sitio de CSI (y para participar en el llamado al Equipo de Diseño del sitio) elegí que todo lo que fuera texto estuviese escrito en Inglés.
Además, para algo me mandaron mis padres a estudiar durante 6 años a un Instituto! Jajaja! Me gusta para practicar y hay veces que elijo un idioma u el otro según criterios estéticos (hay palabras que se VEN más interesantes en un idioma que en el otro :D).

Hago este comentario porque se que hay gente a la que le molesta que el mundo del Scrap se maneje casi todo en idioma inglés, cosa que no es extraña considerando dónde nació, pero yo no tengo ningún problema en utilizarlo y me divierte poder jugar con los idiomas :) 
Quizás algún día haga un LO en Dothraki, quién sabe? ♥

I created this page for fun, but also to participate in the Design Team Call at the CSI site.

La foto la tomé con un celular, con poca luz y le agregué un efecto muy gastado tipo baja calidad. Me parece interesante sumar este tipo de fotos y no siempre fotos de calidad impecable, como para dar la nota de lo real que se vive con los celulares y sus cámaras, y todas las aplicaciones de edición con las que contamos. Es una forma de documentar estos tiempos y sus juegos tecnológicos también :)

Y sin más palabras las y los dejo hasta el próximo post.
Les debo la actualización de mi Proyecto Diciembre 2015, que lo tengo CASI todo listo. Me faltan creo que desde el 26 al 31 de Diciembre. Apenas lo termine veré de qué manera puedo compartirlo con ustedes, sin que sea un post larguísimo y lleno de fotos donde no se entiende nada.

I took the photo with a smartphone, in poor light and with a LO-FI effect. I think it's interesting to use this kind of photos and not always great quality photos. I think that this speaks of the time we are at, the technology we have and all of the fun that adding effects to the photographs give to us.
